Device storage
What Trivet stores in your browser, why, and why we don’t ask you to accept cookies.
What we store, and why
| What | Where | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your sign-in | Browser storage (IndexedDB) | To keep you signed in | Until you sign out |
| The email address you asked for a sign-in link with, and the page you were going to | Browser storage (localStorage) | To finish signing you in when you open the link | Until you finish signing in |
| A copy of your organisation’s data you have opened, and changes you make offline | Browser storage (IndexedDB) | So the app works with no signal and sends your changes when you are back online | Cleared when you sign out |
| Photos and files waiting to upload | Browser storage (IndexedDB) | So uploads made offline are not lost | Until they have uploaded |
| The app itself | Browser cache (service worker) | So the app opens quickly and offline | Until a new version replaces it |
| Your progress through setting up, that you hid the pilot notice, and this browser’s push notification registration | Browser storage (localStorage) | To remember choices you made on this device | Until you clear them or sign out |
| Google reCAPTCHA | Google’s cookies and browser storage | To tell people from automated attacks on our sign-in and servers | Set by Google |
Why there is no cookie banner
The law asks for your consent before a website stores or reads information on your device, unless an exception applies. One exception covers storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, including keeping it secure, preventing fraud, signing you in and remembering what you entered or chose. Everything above is in that category, so we don’t need to ask.
We don’t use analytics, advertising or social media cookies. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it, and update this page.
Google’s reCAPTCHA also sends information about your browser and device to Google. See our privacy notice for how that is protected.
Clearing it
You can clear site data in your browser’s settings at any time. You will be signed out, and anything recorded offline that hasn’t been sent yet will be lost, so go online first.
